For Students
Great writers are not born, they are made. Writing is an art that takes time, patience, effort, practice and persistence. When writing is a strong basis for entry into prestigious institutes of higher learning, its importance cannot be underestimated as an insight into the applicant’s life, thoughts and experiences. How will this person make a difference to our campus? What will he/she bring? Why should we admit her/him?
If you want to learn the keys to college essay success, you must begin by reading the book “Accepted” by Gen and Kelly Tanabe. A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers” or the one specifically geared for teens, “What Color Is Your Parachute? For Teens: Discovering Yourself, Defining Your Future.” Another book that is helpful is “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey. All are available on Amazon.

If you are looking for ways to improve your writing, the importance of reading, cannot be stressed enough. It is not necessary to read all the classics determined by others, reading books that have moved you and/or made you think matter. The more you read about topics you are interested in, the more exposure you get to different styles of writing and the more ideas you build for your own writing.
What makes for great writing? According to Minha Kauser, Chief Editor at Winning Essays, any writing that provokes thought and questions is valuable but what matters even more, is if it is memorable. Creating and leaving a lasting impression is what makes for brilliant writing. And, you can find great writing anywhere – in a proverb, a speech, book, film, or essay.
